All you hear these days is everyone telling you that you need to produce content to make sure your business does well online. And if you’re already producing content, everyone just tells you you need to produce more content.
You know you need to produce content. But that’s just not you.
You’re not comfortable in front of the camera, so you figure video is out. You don’t really know anything about audio, so you figure podcasting is out. You don’t like to type, so you figure publishing articles on your website is out.
Above all that, you just don’t want to spend your time creating all this content.
Here’s the thing…
The Good Stuff
These days you can create powerful, effective media and broadcast on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, etc…) for FREE.
The Bad Stuff
So can everyone else.
And people, your competitors are doing it.
Perspective
Embrace this opportunity of being able to basically be your own media company.… for free. Sometimes I can be as simple as a change of perspective.
Don’t look at creating content as a chore. Think of it as an opportunity. Get excited about it. Man, once you get into it, it can get exciting; you could end up having a lot of fun with this.
And it might not be as bad as you think.
At the beginning of the article I listed possible reasons why you’re not crazy about creating content. However, the cool thing is, if you own a smart phone, that can illuminate most of those issues.
Mobile devices a.k.a. phones these days are powerful media producing tools. They can record video and audio that’s if good quality and this can get you started.
Video
Not every video has to be a Spielberg production. The main thing that’s most important is that you’re providing valuable information, valuable content; what’s your message. That’s what matters most.
You could use your phone to record simple, but valuable content and upload it straight to YouTube or Facebook or Instagram. You can always get fancy later on, but this can get you started generating video for your business.
Podcast
Your phone can rescue you on this one as well. You can record audio from anywhere at anytime, right on your phone. Then if you want to, you could bring that audio file into software and create your podcast episodes. Or there are even apps now where you can just handle your whole podcast right on your phone; recording it, uploading it, publishing it.
Publishing Articles on Your Website
You probably already know what I’m going to say… Your phone. It’s not that I mind typing, but since I’ve gotten used to the new Gutenberg block editor in WordPress, I’ve Published the last eight articles on this site by logging into the admin, Post > Add New, and then just spoke the article into my phone and it did all the typing.
Man, that makes the process so fast and easy. And I love that I can now create new content easily using that method from anywhere at anytime with my phone.
“The more content I put out, the more luck I have.”
Gary Vaynerchuk
Anyway…
So, it’s really not as bad as you thought. As far as not feeling comfortable in front of the camera, man, you could create powerful and effective slideshows and still do voiceover so your personal touch comes through. Upload that to YouTube, put some good search friendly titles on it and there ya go.
Produce more content… but keep it fun.
But really, I’m very serious in saying it would really be better for you if you could just look at all of this as a fun new part of the business to explore. You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
