I was looking back at an article I posted a couple days ago; it was about how there are no shortcuts when building your brand online; making sure that your voice stands out and cut through all the noise.
I always want to make sure that you know the truth about this stuff, because so many people will try to sell you a website and tell you once you have your site online, people will find you and be happy to give you their money; you’ll be making money while you sleep.
The, “ if you build it, they will come” premise.
Field of Dreams
That’s just not the way it works.
But it should still be fun!
I’m serious about this! Yeah, there can be plenty of hard work involved in running any business. Whether you’re a large corporation, or a freelancer; there’s definitely work to be done.
But it doesn’t have to suck!
Running your own website for your business can be incredibly fun. If you are passionate about what you do, your website can be one of your favorite places to hang out, and produce content that helps people feel your passion about what you do.
This kind of gets back to another article that I wrote a few days ago about, how your website really is your online magazine. How cool is that?
Now you’re producing your own magazine, and it’s about something that you’re passionate about; something you love and believe in. It’s something you’re great at, and the website gives you a way to share all of that in a beautiful, online magazine format.
So keep perspective.
Continually putting out fresh content doesn’t have to be a chore. Working your website doesn’t have to be just another task that you have to complete; something new you have to learn; just another part of the job.
No, man, publishing articles, adding photos, maybe even making videos or adding a podcast can be the funnest part of your job. It can be fun, it is fun. It can be exciting; you just have to keep perspective. This stuff IS fun. It really is.
