We all want our businesses to do better. And we all want it to happen yesterday, right? I know I do.
Now every once in a blue moon something, some person or some product gets some insane traction and may freakishly move to the head of the line in a relatively short amount of time. But for the rest of us…. yeah, that’s just not the deal.
That’s okay though. We can all get there, but the quicker you come to terms with this, the sooner you’ll start doing things that really do make a difference. There Is No Hack. Nope, There Is No Hack. No Shortcut.
It’s All About The Work
It really is. That’s why, if you’re starting, or running, or working on building your own business, it really helps if it’s something you’re passionate about; something you’d be compelled to do. That’s what’s going to give you the stamina and the persistence to keep moving; to keep knocking it out as you move forward and continually gain momentum.
Use The Powerful Tools Available
It is about the work. But the cool thing is there are so many tools available, for free, that we can use to make sure our message gets out there. We’ve got some pretty fantastic venues and platforms that are free to use and incredibly effective…. if you use them and use them productively.
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Oh My!
Use these platforms. A lot. I only listed three of the resources in the subheading just so I could use the Wizard of Oz reference, but there are more.
For example your own blog. You should be producing content on your site daily. The cool thing is once you post to your blog/website you can share that on all of your social sites.
Twitter – I know, I know. There are so many who don’t see the deal with Twitter. That’s fair, man. I’d estimate it usually takes most of us about 90 days on average to start to understand how to get the most out of Twitter. But one of the most important reasons to share your content on Twitter is that it’s one of the fastest ways to get your content indexed by Google. Google loves Twitter.
Yes, We Do Have A Level Playing Field, But…
That also means that everyone now has a chance. That ups the amount of noise out there considerably. You’re going to have to produce enough content to cut through that noise.
How much is enough? It’s Never Enough.
So get at it! Right articles; post to your blog; start a YouTube channel; start a podcast; and do all of this a lot. Then share all of this content on your social platforms.
Okay… when do we get to the fun part?
This IS the fun part! Doing the work. Building your business. Having your own online magazine (your website is your own online magazine) where you are the primary contributor and the editor. Producing content. Having a podcast where you can talk about what you know; what you love. Creative videos. Man, this is all fun stuff. It’s exciting; it’s rewarding… it’s essential.
There are no hacks. No shortcuts. Man, embrace this now. Use this as fuel to push forward. It’s all about the long game. It is about the work… But that really is the fun part.
