Nobody wants to see your content. That is, nobody wants to see your blog posts, videos, podcasts, etc… that are specifically geared towards promoting your brand, or selling them something. That’s not an effective use of your media.
That’s Called A Commercial
And what do people usually do when a commercial comes on, or an ad pops up? They put their attention somewhere else. You don’t want that, man.

Create Media, Not Ads
If you’re not already thinking this way, don’t worry, now is the perfect time to shift.
You and your business deliver value in the products or services that you provide. Now, just have that same focus in the way you develop your online brand.
Here’s the secret…
The best way to develop a strong brand is by not promoting that brand.
Instead, promote your customers, your audience. Focus on them. Solve their problems. Entertain them. Give them media that positively affects them; something they actually want to see; something that sincerely delivers value.
“Be the show, not the commercial”

Your Blog is a Perfect Place to Start
In the next post you create, start by thinking what’s the most important information you could share with your audience that would really benefit them. It’s really a simple as that.
Always create your media this way – focused on the client; the customer; your audience. This might sounds little backwards, right? I’m a strong advocate of developing your personal brand. I say stuff like, let people know what you bring to the table. But you don’t do that by just telling everyone how cool you are. Instead, you show them by bringing value.
In Conclusion – Your Media
What’s the most valuable thing you could provide to your audience; your customers right now? Do that.
Also, if you don’t mind, if you have a minute, share with me, in the comment section, what that thing is. Seriously, I’m curious, I am grateful for those who answer. Thank you!
