Support Your Community
This might be something that is already second nature for you. Maybe your naturally an interested and supportive person.
However, often when business owners first take to the various social networks in an almost desperate approach to do what everyone is telling them to do (be active on these networks), they tend to still broadcast.
Broadcasting, standing on your podium, spreading your business’ message to the masses is old school marketing. It’s no longer the way to go (thankfully!!!). If you continue down this path you’ll probably have a rough go at it and be frustrated by your social networking results. (or lack there of)
Now a days it’s much more affective to develop your sense of community on these networks (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc…). One way to really develop a sense of community is to support your contacts/followers. Take interest in what they have to say.
Appreciate Your Followers – Their Time is Valuable!
When someone takes time to Like or +1 your post, try to acknowledge that as much as you can. Especially if someone takes the time to actually comment, they took some of their own precious time out of their day to appreciate you and what you’re doing. Thanks significant and it needs to be reciprocated.
Here are some tips to help you be a better community member:
- Definitely reply to comments
- Like or +1 other’s posts
- Comment on other’s posts
- Generally be supportive
Using these kinds of guidelines not only can make you the kind of person people really want to have in their circles, but I think you’ll find it even personally makes your time spent on these networks more enjoyable.
Support! Support! Support!
It’s just a better way to go 🙂
