Is one of the main reasons you’re not posting as often as you’d like simply because it takes you too long to crank out a post?
The Art of Brevity (yes, the “B” word again)
The easy answer is write less per post.
It’s easy to get drawn into the subject once you start writing and you find yourself feeling like you need to cover every aspect of your topic.
You don’t.
Try this:
- Cover the main points of your topic but don’t get into details.
- Then, for tomorrow’s post, take the first detail of today’s post and develop it a bit.
- Then, for the next days post, take the second detail and develop it a bit.
- Then, for the next days post after that, ….. (get the idea)
Don’t worry if your readers are going to understand everything from the first post. Just give them enough to peak their curiosity then invite them back for tomorrows further explanation.
Your Mantra: Every post I write is too long. Every post I write is too long. Every post….
Say this over and over again. Then use it as your editing tool.
Say less (yet enough) per post, but post more often.
BTW, this post is too long. 😉
