Good question. How can you have a successful blog if you’re not a writer? Is that even possible? A blog is about writing… right?
If you read my blog, you’ll know that I’m usually on my soapbox chanting, “Content, Content, Content…” I’m not here to tell you that anything has changed in that area. However, realistically I know that not everyone has the time, the desire or the writing chops to consistently produce post after post.
What If Writing Just Isn’t My Strong Point?
I hear this question from time to time. I get it. Not everyone is great with words. Or maybe they just not great typists, therefore it would just take forever to compose a single post. Have no fear, because I’m going to give you some suggestions on how you can succeed in the blogosphere.
How To Have a Successful Blog If You’re Not a Writer
You’re too Slow Joe
Firstly, if you’re struggling with this issue simply because you’re poor typist, this is an easy fix. The cool this is that this issue can actually resolve itself simply by the fact that the more you type, the better you’ll get. Therefore, over time you’ll become faster and faster and more accurate (less typos).

Dictate Your Posts On Your Phone
Another solution to the typing issue is that you can use the WordPress app on your phone and use the mic input to speak and dictate your posts. That’s what I do most of the time and it really speeds up the process. Because, I can get the bulk of the article done this way. Then if I need to, I’ll sit down at a computer to do some final tweaking. Even if I do that, it’s still much faster this way. I talked about this more in an earlier post.
Write Better Content That Sticks
Even if you’re not a writer, you can still have a successful blog by producing better content. When you do write for your blog, make it golden, that is to say, make it incredibly valuable content. Posts like that are more likely to be shared and read more often. They might even become a primary resource on the subject. Therefore, even if you’re not producing a lot, when you do post something, it gets more traction.

Media Options
Writing isn’t the only game in town when it comes to blogging. You’ve also got video and audio.
If you’ve got a good voice and are enthusiastic, start a podcast. If you do that, maybe you could have someone transcribe the audio. That way, you double the amount of content that you’re producing. How cool is that? It’s very cool, man.
If you’re good in front of a camera you could do video. When you do this, I recommend that you post the videos to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, however, also post them on your own site. Let people know that if they come to the site, there would be additional content available. Then just add a few more bits of valuable content to that post.
Multiple Writers
Bring in more guest writers to contribute. By doing this your blog can be a great source of valuable content that is produced consistently. And, maybe you just write something every now and then.
How To Have a Successful Blog If You’re Not a Writer
So there you have it; several ways you can still run a successful blog, even if you’re just not a writer. And why is it so important to have a blog? Because content marketing is the number one way you can build your brand. Having a blog gives you that hub, the center of your media production efforts. So, not a writer? Not a problem. Just get started.
