Have you written your blog post today?
Have you spent time posting and commenting on your social media sites yet, today?
Did you make sure you tweeted your important message three times today?
Well…. Have you!?!
Are you getting tired of everyone telling you how you need to ramp up your blogging and social media presence? They keep at you, telling you how it’s crucial; how important it is.
It’s kind of like when you were a kid and your parents kept asking you if you’ve done your chores yet; made your bed yet; cleaned your room yet; done your homework, yet, blah, blah, blah…
I know I’m probably one of the worst offenders here. I’m constantly blogging about blogging and its benefits, and how you really should get on it.
I officially apologize for any annoyance on my part. (although I won’t be stopping anytime soon, sorry)
Motivation
How can you get excited about a task, or set of tasks that you know you should be doing, but you’re really not even sure how to start? You need motivation. You need to be excited about it.
When You’re Inspired
You know how inspiration and motivation changes everything. When you’re inspired about a task, or motivated, or excited… it’s FUN! You can’t wait to get started and you’ll do it often.
So Where Do You Find this Inspiration?
That’s a good question. And, here’s a suggestion.
Who inspires you?
Who are some of the main people in your life that inspire you? That is a great place to start!
When you’re just not motivated to try and motivate anyone else (by blogging, social networking, etc), go to your inspiration. Go to the people who inspire you.
Does it matter that these people aren’t related to the topic you need to blog about, or your business at all?
No.
What does matter is the energy they give to you; that space you’re in when you’re inspired by these people. The buzz you get from observing these people; or reading about them; or reading their blog posts; or watching YouTube videos about them.
Take that inspiration you get from these people and channel it into what you do. Usually when I’m inspired I have much more energy to put into anything that I’m doing.
I’ll often look to marketing genius, Chris Brogan for inspiration. I love this guys approach to marketing, web presence, etc. and the manner in which he humbly shares his thoughts and concepts with anyone who’s interested.
I’ll stop by copyblogger.com and see what those guys and gals are doing. That stuff inspires me.
Unrelated Inspiration
I’ll even look to unrelated inspiration. I’ve played jazz guitar for over 30 years now. One of my greatest inspirations has always been legendary guitarist, George Benson.
If I take some time to listen to some GB, maybe even find some video on YouTube, it can change everything.
I listen to the playing and it elevates my state of mind. It inspires me. I can then channel that inspiration into my web business.
Why Inspiration is So Important
I probably don’t really need to even say this, but we know if we’re not inspired or motivated, we’ll often do the minimum amount of work required. We’re just waiting to be done.
When you’re inspired, you’re better at everything. You put more energy into it. Most importantly, you are happy and you’re having fun. You’re going to do a much better job that way.
