Having the ability to update and refresh your website’s content regularly can help your business in a couple ways. 1.) It provides new information for your visitors, which can make the site more interesting to them and cause return visits to see what’s new. 2.) Google takes note of how often your site’s is showing new content. That shows it’s an active site, not just a site that someone put up, then forgot about.
However, the costs of having to pay your web designer maintenance fees to constantly update your site for you can add up. A good way to go when having your site created is having the developer set your site up with a Content Management System (CMS) program like Joomla, Drupal, or WordPress.
This allows you to be able to login to an admin area on the website and regularly update and refresh your site’s content without maintenance fees, or maybe even a time delay of having to schedule your web developer to make the changes for you. It’s great! You can have an idea at 3am and you want to have the new idea on the site before the start of the next business day. No problem, you just login to your admin area and start typing!
Keep in mind, this doesn’t mean you’ll be able to edit everything on the site, such as any specific graphic design elements or Flash, but usually updating and adding text or photos/images can be pretty simple.
