How important is it to have a website for your business in 2019. With all of the social networks available, do you even need a website? What I mean by that is, does anyone even visit websites anymore? The short answer is: Very, Yes and Of Course.
Why Do You Need A Website in 2021?

Isn’t Social Media Presence Enough?
Being present and active on social media is very important these days. Because on average, it’s where your customers live for hours a day.
“…the internet user of today spends an average of 2 hours and 22 minutes socializing online…”

I’m sure we all know a few people who spend even more time than that.
Therefore, if you’re actively sharing valuable content and having conversations on social media, then you’re on the right track; good job! However, it’s not enough.
If you’re serious about your business and you’re in it for the long run, you need to show your customers that by having your own platform where they can dig a little deeper. They can really learn more about you; your brand; your reputation and what you have to offer.
Having Your Own Website Helps Develop Trust
If a customer has found you on social media, that’s very cool. However, if they try and find more information about you but can’t find a website, that might have a negative effect on how they view your business.
Think about it, put yourself in that position. For example, maybe you’re looking for a new accountant for your business and you saw one on Facebook. Well, it’s fun to see the funny memes and cat videos they’re posting, but you’d like to learn a little more about them.
So, you Google them. Hmmmm, no website. There’s no business site online where you could read a more in-depth description on the services they provide. You can’t find any blog posts or articles to read, or even an About page. That’s too bad.
Not Having A Professional Business Website Can Hurt
So, you’re interested in the accountant, but they don’t have a website. How does that make you feel about them?
The kind of content and presentation you can find on a business’ website can give you a good feel for what they can do for you. It’s the kind of thing that will help you know if you even want to do business with them. If there’s no website, there’s no opportunity to learn more.
In other words, if they don’t take their business serious enough to have a site, how seriously will they take yours?
That’s usually the gut feeling people get when they can’t find a website for a business they want to learn about.

Let’s get back to finding you an accountant.
Okay, your confidence has been shaken a bit by the lack of web presence for the first accountant. So, you’re back on social media looking for the next candidate. You know what? Never mind, just go straight to Google. Therefore, you can just get right to it; find an accountant in your area that does have a website.
Success, you found one! So, you go to their website and you’re instantly looking at a very professional presentation.
- It’s got strong imagery to give you a feel for the company right away.
- The site is easy to navigate so you can find what you’re looking for.
- The information is clear and they’ve even published a few articles that give you a pretty good idea of what this company can deliver.
From their website you can get a sense of…
- how competent they are;
- how professional they are;
- exactly what they can do for you, and
- you’re able to get a pretty good idea of who you’ll be working with, even before you reach out to them.
Of the two companies you’ve looked at so far, which one inspires more confidence?
Social Platforms Change and Even Go Away At Some Point
Remember MySpace? ‘Nuff said.
But don’t worry, I’ll say more.
Policies and algorithms change. Therefore, you’re completely at the mercy of the social platforms you’re on. Do you have a business page on Facebook? If you do, I’m sure you’ve noticed how your posts organically only reach a fraction of the people who actually Like and Follow your page.
To reach more, you need to boost your posts. However, this costs money. It’s not a bad thing to boost or create sponsored posts. But like I said, policies and algorithms change, continually. Therefore, unless you’re boosting your posts, they are barely being seen. And, you really don’t have any control over that.
On your website, you’ve got complete control. That doesn’t change.

So, Do You Need A Website for Your Business in 2021?
Hopefully, if you weren’t considering some of these issues, you’ll think about them now. Because, you’ve got a good business. I don’t want to see you hurt your brand by not having a website. You do need a business website in 2021.
