If you are new to blogging, that statement probably seems kind of odd to you. I mean, how could blog titles be more important than the actual content of the post?
Better Blog Titles = More Attention
The Internet is literally flooded with new blog posts every hour. How is anyone going to make their post stand out against all the others?
Blog titles. That’s it.
The title of your post is going to be the make-it-or-break-it reason why anyone decides to look at your post, or just keep scrolling on by.
Your post title needs to be something that demands attention.
Clickbait?
Am I telling you that you need to start coming up with Clickbait kinds of titles? Well kind of, yeah.
But don’t get me wrong, don’t create the kind a clickbait where someone clicks on your link, and when they get to the article, it really has nothing to do with the blog title. That’s the last thing you want to do. Sure, you might get more hits, however, that reader will never go to your website ever again.
But you do want to create titles for your posts you are so provocative; really grab the readers attention so they do click through to read your article.
Strong SEO Blog Titles
Not only do you want to create blog titles that are very appealing to humans, you also want to make sure they have a very strong SEO value for Google.
That means you want to have keywords in your title that would be terms or phrases that people will be searching for.
The title of your post is the first thing that Google sees. It’s the primary place where you want to make sure you’ve got your best SEO work going on. So make sure you really put your best effort in there.
Hey, another 80/20 rule we can use!
If you want to, you can put the 80/20 rule to work here. Think of it like this.…
80% of your effort should go into the title.
20% goes into the creation of the post itself.
That probably still sounds a little weird, Huh? I know, I get that, but that just shows how important the title of your post is.
To Summarize, Blog Titles…
The title of your post is the most important element. Put 80% of your effort into coming up with a strong title, and put 20% into creating the post content.
You need blog titles that grab peoples attention; demand their attention and make them curious; excited to click on your link and get to your content. As a result, you get more readers to your post.
A strong title is the first step in getting more eyes on your content for both humans, but also for Google. Always keep that in mind. Super important stuff.
