When it comes to doing business on the web, so many people are reluctant to automatically trust just any business or service provider – and rightfully so! There are a lot of websites that promote services that just aren’t “legit.” Or, in marketing their services and products online, the business owner or marketer will over-hype what they’re selling, or spam or use other less-than-truthful means of increasing profit.
As a consumer you probably don’t support such business ethics, but maybe as a merchant trying to sell their products and services, you might think it’s alright to bend the rules. Of course it’s up to you to decide for yourself what the right path for you would be. What I’d like to do is, with no judgment, just offer some simple advice that can help you think in terms that will ultimately bring you more success in any business you do.
Be Authentic.
Don’t go for get-rich-quick plans. Don’t mislead customers just for the sake of a sale. Have a product or service that you truly believe in it’s benefits. Promote it’s actual qualities, drawing on the firm belief that you do have in what you’re offering. Use effective conventional means of advertising: print, web based ads, etc… But focus on the real value of the product. Not an over-hyped version. This is a longterm, quality focus that will bring more satisfying and longterm results.
Again, I’m not saying this with any judgment whatsoever. This is just a practical approach for TRUE success. People have come to be sufficiently weary of online business transaction from merchants that they’re not that familiar with. Being the “Real Deal” and presenting your products honestly will generate more business. This helps you develop a powerful “Word of Mouth” campaign and it’s also a good way to ensure repeat business.
Anyway, as you’re developing your online business ideas, just keep this in mind and I think you and your business will both do a lot better.
